Dave + Lexie | Wedding at Townsend Park

A delayed July wedding date couldn’t hold back the amazing energy of Dave and Lexie’s October wedding at Townsend Park in Cannonsburg, Michigan.

We were referred to this wonderful couple after photographing Dave’s brothers wedding in 2016. Jon and Angela’s wedding at the Kroc Center and Noto’s was a great day to be a part of and we knew Dave and Lexie’s day would be memorable as well!

The day began in downtown Grand Rapids at Homewood Suites in the Waters Building. Both the girls and guys got ready at the hotel. The details were great, the fall light in downtown GR was amazing and there were moments of intense laughter as well as precious tears.

In case you didn’t know, Homewood Suites is home to one of the best rooftop decks in the city. That meant first look and wedding party photos up on the roof.

* Wedding planning tip: By having photos taken before the ceremony in downtown Grand Rapids, it means that Dave and Lexie have two distinct looks to their wedding day — urban downtown and fall park.

These two were able to see each other in a very intimate way and after seeing each other chose to read their wedding vows to one another. No other eyes, no other ears, just the two of them together.

Then it was off in the party bus to Townsend Park. The park, located about 30 minutes northeast of downtown Grand Rapids has several versatile locations. Dave and Lexie decided on a section with a prominent stream.

Wedding party photos, family photos and time for relaxing before the ceremony meant once the ceremony began, the “formal photo” part of the day was over. The bride, groom and all the guests could enjoy time together.

With a great creek, bridge and centerpiece, it provided an option of the bride and her father to walk into the ceremony in a different way. Lexie and her dad were able to walk toward guests and everyone was able to enjoy the moment.

Wonderful vows followed and excitement once Dave and Lexie’s friends could high five and hug following the ceremony!

A quick reset of chairs and tables and it was time for toasts, dances, cocktails and fun. Great stories were told, tears were shed and fun was had by everyone attending.

Then it was time for “family” photos in downtown GR with Remi. Why not walk a few blocks as the sun was setting and capture great images on a day that means so much not only to the bride and groom, but their puppy!?!
