Nick + Lauren | Wedding at Cascade Hills Country Club
It’s a wonderful day when someone you’ve known for a long time emails and says, “I’m getting married, I’d love you to photograph the wedding!”
That’s how we first heard about Lauren’s engagement to Nick. We attended church together many years ago and were part of the same small group. Being a part of her wedding day was a blessing for us!
As with most couples, 2020 has proven difficult when it comes to planning a wedding. However, Nick and Lauren’s day at Calvary Church, outdoor photos at Calvin University and a reception at Cascade Hills Country Club was one that will go down as a wonderful Friday night in October 2020!
The day began with everyone getting ready at Calvary Church, where we first met Lauren many years ago and where she and Nick now attend. The details, the personalities of 8 groomsmen, 8 bridesmaids, 1 junior bridesmaid and families from both sides made the morning fun and interactive.
After Nick and Lauren saw each other in a very low key, casual way, they, along with the wedding party headed to Calvin University for photos around the seminary pond.
The colors were great, the weather shifted between blue sky and cloud cover and you’ll see why we love having 3 photographers on site for a wedding day — all the angles that can be caught of the same moment (and the creativity that comes from having people not be ‘rushed around’).
Nick and Lauren even had their fur-baby, Leo, make an appearance. He snagged a few great images with his mom and dad for great memories.
Then it was time for formal family portraits and then sit back and enjoy the day. With wedding party and family photos completed, Nick and Lauren were able to anticipate and enjoy their wedding ceremony followed immediately by time with guests at Cascade Hills Country Club.
Details, details, details were a big part of Nick and Lauren’s wedding day, especially at the reception. Split between a tent on the west terrace of Cascade Hills and the interior ballroom, guests had space to move about and see details everywhere.
Guests were seated inside the ballroom at Cascade Hills, cake was cut, toasts were made and a wonderful dinner was served.
Following dinner first dances were held inside and then guests moved back outside to the tent where the live band, Bluewater Kings, rocked the house and guests loved the indoor/outdoor environment.
