They met because they sat next to each other in a Journalism 101 class.

During the semester they both decided journalism was not their calling in life.

She’s now an insurance adjuster. He is a resident doctor in Grand Rapids.

With everything in the world changing in the past 90 days, so to did the wedding day for Michael and Sarah.

A Michigan State wedding was planned because it’s where these two fell in love. But, the guest list became shorter, the ceremony location changed, the reception was altered.

But one thing that didn’t change was the intense love between the bride and groom.

The day began with getting ready in downtown East Lansing where Sarah’s mother helped her with the final touches of hair, dress, veil and her baby brother became “assistant”, making sure Sarah made it to the church on time.

While guests arrived and were seated, the bride and groom waited with anticipation.

Sarah’s father proudly walked his daughter down the aisle and mentioned after first seeing her earlier in the day, “I was the first one you saw when you opened your eyes to the world and I’ll never forget that moment…”

I think this will be another moment he will never forget.

Following family portraits we were able to use the church sanctuary as well as the space just outside the doors for beautiful portraits of Michael and Sarah.

**That’s a key when it comes to wedding photography — use one location for multiple looks to ensure you have great images and enough time to capture as many photos as possible!

Though their wedding reception, originally planned at the MSU Horticulture Gardens, was canceled by Michigan State, Sarah’s aunts put together a small reception for all those in attendance just after photos concluded.

During this time drinks were enjoyed, toasts were shared, dances occurred and more memories were made.

Then it was off to the Michigan State campus for photos of just the bride and groom.

They provided their “favorite” spots on campus as well as the locations that meant the most to them — the Comm Arts building where they would walk from the class they met back to the main part of the MSU campus.

(Also, we had to stop and grab a few photos with Sparty!)
