If we had to plan our wedding again, we would have a day similar to Craig and Rochelle. These two contacted us about their wedding just a few months ago as they were pulling together final vendors. They had planned a ceremony and afternoon reception at the Goei Center on Grand Rapids’ west side. Not interested in having a full day photo package, they planned an afternoon ceremony and reception with friends and family, so a few hours of photo time was all they needed. Throw in a few family photos and some time for portraits of the bride and groom and they had a recipe for a great Sunday wedding. The details that Rochelle put together for her wedding day were outstanding and full of her personal style. From the hair piece to the matching piece on the flowers along with some fun for guests with the “wedding mad libs”, their style was seen throughout the day.

The Goei Center is a great venue that is split into two halves. Though they were only using one half for their ceremony and reception, we were able to use the other half for portraits, which offered these two a few minutes of rest while their guests ate and drank. The exposed brick and outdoor setting of the Goei Center helped create a beautiful atmosphere for portraits.

The final detail I want to mention is the dessert table. Rochelle happens to be a pastry chef in the Grand Rapids area. Craig is an executive chef as well. These two are all about the food to say the least. However, Rochelle’s cupcakes (assisted by Craig), were the best I’ve ever tasted. We have been to over 300 weddings and very few times have I thought, “I sure would like more from the dessert table”. Rochelle’s cupcakes were a no brainer though – they were spectacular.
