Why You Need To Budget For Event Coverage

Over the past two decades I’ve captured thousands of events. I have seen great events and some not so great events.

I understand that events are more than just gatherings; their opportunities to create long lasting memories that resonate far beyond the night itself.

In today’s business world we are back to professionals attending 5-25 events a year.

Because of that , it is essential for your organization to create lasting impressions and content for your audience.

So why does it matter if you have a great photo and video of your event?

From my perspective, the facility is rented for one night, the food is eaten, flowers die, linens are returned and attendees drive home.

But, photos and videos GO UP in value after your event is complete and your guests have a memory to last a lifetime and you have great content to share!

As an example, imagine hosting a 500 person dinner and that the investment is $75 per person for food and drink.

That’s $37,500 before room rental fee, invitations, linens, flowers, entertainment, etc.

Doesn’t it seem easy to get to a $50,000 budget?

What if you invested 10% of that amount in photos and video?

Or even 5%?

And what if that content helped you take the event from 500 attendees to 617 next year?

That’s 117 additional registrations for the event.

Let alone what’s possible in terms of additional sales over the other 364 days of the year you’re not hosting an event (think in terms of donations if you’re a non-profit).

In conclusion, the event happens one time, one evening.

Your photos and video will live on after the event.

They will show up in their social feeds, their friends will share their favorite and it will help make the event stick.

And isn’t that why you’re hosting the event?

So it makes an impact in attendees lives?
