Tyler + Kayleigh | Peacock Road Family Farm Wedding
Having first met Kayleigh at her brother's Grand Ledge wedding in 2013, we knew it would be a blast to be part of her day. And as the wedding planning progressed throughout 2015, we knew Tyler and Kayleigh's wedding at Peacock Road Family Farm would have a much different feel than her brother's a few years prior. The day began with a drive over to Laingsburg, Michigan, a location northeast of Lansing. It's a spot I would call rural, but we found it is a very popular farm for Lansing community school groups.
Though the location may be a popular spot with the education community, the venue is wonderfully setup for weddings as well. The ladies were able to prepare for the day in an actual school house moved to the site a number of years ago. The guys prepared in the nearby "Sugar Shack" and between the two locations was the outdoor ceremony venue. Just a few steps from the ceremony location is a beautiful barn that has been built and the inside finished with ash wood, giving it a very beautiful outdoor look.
Kayleigh and her bridesmaids made the most of having an air conditioned school house to get ready in. They sat around in school desks that match the era and had makeup and hair done on site. We had time for photos with both the guys and girls before the ceremony around the farm. With the temperatures reaching into the 90s though, it was important for us to utilize shade for the wedding party prior to the ceremony. We tried keeping everyone as cool as we could before Tyler and Kayleigh said "I do".
The newlyweds met at Spring Arbor University where they both played collegiate sports (Tyler played baseball and Kayleigh volleyball). They both had wonderful experiences at Spring Arbor and since they both played sports, had the university chaplain perform their ceremony.
Following the "slightly warm" ceremony (direct sun in 90 degree temperatures is "slightly warm"), we tried cooling the wedding party down with family and group photos throughout the shaded spots around the farm. Following family and wedding party photos, we wanted to make sure the bride and groom were able to enjoy the wonderful meal provided by Spartan Hall of Fame Cafe and be able to mix and mingle with their wedding guests.
With the sun setting, we made sure to take Tyler and Kayleigh aside for a few final portraits around the property at Peacock Road Family Farm. Their barn venue and field locations created dramatic backdrops (which is what we're always looking for) and created a setting that neither Tyler or Kayleigh will be able to forget.

If you’re wondering who took care of the wedding day details you see, here is a brief recap:
Ceremony & Reception Venue: Peacock Road Family FarmWedding Dress & Bridesmaids Dresses: Becker's Bridal Hair & Makeup: Megan Smith Flowers: Horrock's Wedding Day Coordinator: Katie Younglove from Peacock RFF Ceremony Musician: Leah Rose Wedding Cake: Whipped Bakery Reception DJ: Alan Sloan
Kayleigh's dress from Becker's Bridal looked stunning outside the school house's red door.
With the school house as a backdrop, how could we not use the chalk and chalkboards to share how each of the ladies first met Kayleigh!
Not only did Peacock Road Family Farm offer great locations with the school house, ceremony and reception spaces, but there is an onsite orchard and lots of shade to keep everyone cool before the ceremony.
Though they didn't have a "first look" with one another before the ceremony, they took the time to hold hands, pray together and exchange letters just a few minutes before the ceremony.
