How’s It Going After 3 Months As a family of 3?

The #1 question we are getting is “So, are you getting any sleep?” And the answer to this one is “usually”.

Bruce has been an amazing blessing to both Rebecca and myself and it got us thinking, “What items have helped us be the parents we dreamed of being the first few months of parenthood?”

So why not document the things that we expected to help as well as the things that we had no idea would be helpful in our journey as parents to Bruce.

But first, a little family photo spam for you, thanks to Amy at Artfully You Photography

So what “things” have been as good as we hoped they would be as new parents?

Two specific things: the bed we have for Bruce as well as the stroller/car seat combo.

The SNOO

The bed is called the SNOO and it’s a smart bed that helps newborns sleep 1-2 additional hours per day (meaning mom and dad get 1-2 hours more sleep every day)

This is a bed developed Dr. Harvey Karp who wrote the book “The Happiest Baby” and this bed, along with his “5 S’s” to help sooth newborn babies, we have had an amazing time with our little guy the past 3 months.

The Doona

The second “thing” that has been great has been the car seat / stroller combination: The Doona.

This is basically a transformer car seat for babies. The wheels fold up into the car seat and Bruce doesn’t have to be carried, he can be rolled all around town.

This means we take him out of the car, pop the wheels out and push him where ever we are headed. That also means Rebecca doesn’t have to put Bruce’s car seat on her arm and carry him around.

As we talked through how great these two items have been, we also talked about the “surprise” things we were not expecting to make a big impact.

Turns out we came up with two that have been HUGE difference makers!

Gripe Water & Wipe Warmer

Bruce has hiccups quite often.

We didn’t know what to do or how to help.

Our pediatrician suggested we try gripe water and man, what a difference maker.

Second, a friend gave us a “wipe warmer” and rather than having cold wipes going on little man’s warm body, the warm wipes make diaper changing time better for everyone involved (usually we are not peed on because of a cold wipe).

If this isn’t enough baby spam for you today, I’d suggest following me on Instagram where we’ve been posting about Baby Bruce on a regular basis.

In the meantime, enjoy your week and remember, you are a miracle, just like our little boy Bruce!
