A Cinco de Mayo theme for a Grand Rapids wedding? Yes, why not #cincodevows! With their families having wedding anniversaries around other holidays (4th of July, Valentine's Day, Halloween, etc.), why not have one focused around Cinco de Mayo?
The last time we saw them, they told us they wanted us to photograph and capture their wedding day. Obviously we were honored to do so.
We just didn't know when they were going to get engaged. Who knew it would be on TV!
As the planning progressed for their Cinco de Mayo (#cincodevows) wedding, it turned out that Johnson Park in Grand Rapids was going to be the setting for both the ceremony and reception with about 75 of their closest family and friends.
We scheduled their Traverse City engagement photos on one of the last beautiful fall days last year and learned all about what they were creating for their friends and family the following May.
These two opted to filled their wedding day with things that many would consider "non-traditional" but fit them perfectly.
They opted to go the "Latvian route" when it came to the wedding processional: they walked each other down the aisle.
The ceremony was officiated by Jaclyn's brother, Tim.
They opted to not have a wedding party standing next to them. They wanted their guests to feel like they were part of the ceremony.
All of this allowed us time to invest time creating beautiful portraits of these two around Johnson Park following the ceremony.
Following dinner (an amazing beef brisket taco bar created by Vault Catering in Grand Rapids), we provided our photo booth services for their guests and needless to say, shenanigans ensued! Check out the last section of images to see what kind of props and poses are now part of their wedding story.
If you love what you see, be sure to leave a comment below and let Kyle and Jaclyn know which photos are your favorite.
