A catholic ceremony on the west side of Grand Rapids, it felt like I was back in my childhood neighborhood for Preston and Susan's wedding in August. Growing up on the west side of Grand Rapids, Holy Spirit Catholic Church has always been busy with weddings ever since I was a child. In August it was Susan and Preston's turn. These two met while attending Miami University in Ohio, a university known for it's high percentage of "Miami Mergers". Over 15% of Miami alumni end up marrying each other, which is one of the highest in the nation. These two met while at college and now reside in Columbus where both are pursuing great careers in the city.
They planned Grand Rapids wedding at Holy Spirit Catholic Church because it's Susan's home church. The decorations were wonderful, the ceremony was presided over by a family member who is a priest and both friends and family came out to show their support for Preston and Susan.
Following the ceremony, we headed down to the Grand Rapids Blue Bridge and Ah-nab-awen Park for photos on location. Though it could have been 90+ degrees on a Saturday in August, the temperate was down and the overcast skies meant no one was walking around trying to stay cool in the late afternoon sun.
Then it was off to the City Flats Hotel wedding reception where the staff had done a wonderful job setting up the room for a packed house. The wedding party was announced, drinks were poured, toasts were given and following a great meal, the dance floor was opened!
If you would like to help them win a free canvas print from us, be sure to leave a comment at the bottom letting them know which photos were your favorites! Many thanks to Crystal from Crystal V Photography in Muskegon for shooting images throughout the day with me when my wife was not available to shoot.
