Gran Fondo is Italian for "Big Ride." The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine is hosting it's 2nd annual MSU Gran Fondo later this month. Last year the event maxed out near 1500 riders and was the premier bicycling event held in Michigan. This years event will be bigger and better!
We were contacted by the development department at the MSU College of Human Medicine. They told us about this unique "pre-fondo" event that started and ended at the BOB in downtown GR. MSU's College of Human Medicine set up a VIP event with local business owners and CEOs who are cycling enthusiasts. Former Olympic medal winner and professional racer Axel Merckx, the Founder of the Bissell Development Team, a U23 cycling team responsible for some of the best young cyclists in the world, was the guest of honor on the "conversational paced" ride around west Michgian.
The event was a great success that produced many great images for MSU's College of Human Medicine to use in the days prior to the main event on June 28. 100% of every dollar raised benefits MSU skin cancer awareness, prevention & research, so if you're interested in the world of cycling, be sure to get registered before it's too late!
