The American Seating Company is a strong manufacturing company based in Grand Rapids. The company was founded in 1886 when they invented the famous "student desk and chair unit". A list of other "firsts" that the company has contributed to the world include: -- First Tilt Back Opera Chair -- First Sports Installation at Fenway Park -- First All Purpose Steel Folding Chair -- The First Stackable Chair (Bodi-Rest)
Needless to say, when we were approached about photographing the executive team for the company, the first thing I did was jump online and see what kind of photos were currently being used. What I found was a company that has a long history beginning in Grand Rapids, but very little information about the people running the company in 2016.
The new portraits for the Grand Rapids business will help them begin to tell the story of who is behind the wheel of American Seating in 2016.
The day of the shoot gave us about 30 minutes to setup for portraits for the executive team. We used their showroom space to include a few of their key products (both architectural and transportation) with the portraits.
Lights were setup and tested and first on the list was current President and COO Tom Bush, who was a great subject to photograph.
He was followed by his executive team, which totaled 11 other individuals. The session lasted about 90 minutes and each individual was photographed in the same setup to bring continuity to the portrait session.
