How to Better Communicate With Your Team

I recently heard the CEO of Gallup speak and he said that "asynchronous communication is wreaking havoc on the workplace. Managers and leaders need to communicate more and more frequently..."

That got me thinking about how I communicate with my team of photographers and business support that helps us stay on track (and it’s super simple).

I use Loom videos.

I have team members both locally and at a distance and Loom has been the tool I have trusted to provide not only my words, but my voice and facial expression on any given project.

I have found that email can work, but when someone reads the email composed by me, the reader takes whatever emotional state they are in (good or bad) and applies it to that email message.

By using Loom video (or video in general), they are able to not only see my face but also hear my voice as I explain what I’d like to see happen.

It has personally worked wonders for me and I find it an extremely powerful tool to help me guide my teams to success.

Here are a few tips to help align your team goals!

  1. Over-Communicate & Be Transparent

  2. Set Fair Response Times

  3. Internal Communication Tool To Expand Basic Communication (aka Loom)

  4. Have deliverables on hand
